SACNW pool party

South Ambergris Caye Neighborhood Watch pool party was a huge sucess. Loads of people turned out to enjoy some fun in the sun and listen to Kelly McGuire - John Arthur Martinez and other great musicians. I was lucky and won raffle prizes twice - a nice ecologic divers water bottle and scored water taxi tickets to Belize City and back - Tim trumped me on that one winning tropic air tickets. Turkey to spare

Samuel is a standard 3 student at Ambergris Caye Elementary school. He recently won a school raffle and the prize was a turkey. Since his family already had a thanks giving turkey Samuel decided that it would be a good idea to give the turkey to someone who did not have one. Mario and Vicky his parents and owners of the Hungry Monkey Sub shop decided it would be a good idea to use this opportunity to teach kids about giving. They suggested to Samuel to donate the turkey to the feeding program at Holy Cross School and made the offer to Samuel's class to help make turkey salad sandwiches and pasta salad and bring it to the school. The idea was to help the kids learn first hand that sharing with others is a rewarding experience and to teach them about being involved in the community. Happy Thanks Giving 2008

Chatting on the coconut phone with shuffles this morning - we are debating how cold the pool will be and if we are lazy to go or not. Annual Torch Run/Aids walk on Sunday, please help spread the word if you know anyone who would be interested in participating. The aim of the torch run is to strengthen the awareness of HIV/Aids and gender based violence in Belizean homes. The torch will pass through all the districts and on Sunday will arrive on the island. Everyone will gather at the Central Park at 10:30am on Sunday, November 30th. There be snacks and refreshments at the end of the run and an all day fair to raise funds for the Aids Commission. Calendar Girls update... Construction has started on a library/media center for the San Pedro Roman Catholic Elementary School donated by the 2008 Isla Bonita Calendar Girls.
