Hanging out with Whale Sharks

Kids in Action in collaboration with Hol Chan and Greenreef have planned two all day trips to Bacalar Chico .

The trips were planned for all the children that participated in the Coral Edventures program that was carried out over the past couple weeks. The first group that went today is the - Whale Sharks ( 7-9year olds) and Angel Fishes will go tomorrow (10-12 year olds). Both facilitated by Belize Diving Adventures.

We stopped at San Juan- visitor center, passed by Chaac Balam (maya site) while navigating through the canal and our last stop was Rocky Point for a swim and some land exploration.

KIA is doing a wonderful job of educating kids in so many ways. The kids are learning how able to speak out if they see things that are not environmentally correct.

Thanks to Darrel and Nestor for being great guides, Belize Diving Adventures for providing lunch & transportation so the kids can see other parts of the Island, Coral Reef Edventures / KIA for teaching the kids about the Island environment, Hol Chan and Greenreef for their participation.

Help Save Bacalar Chico

According to 7News Belize, the Government of Belize is planning to 'De-Reserve' at least 3,000 acres of the Bacalar Chico Marine & Wildlife Reserve in Northern Ambergris Caye, and sell the land to developers. According to reports, the deal is all but done. Residents of Ambergris Caye are being urged to come together and protest this issue. It is also very important for non residents of Belize to support this issue. Many of you have fallen in love with Ambergris Caye and keep coming back for more. Please help us make it known how we feel about the preservation of Marine and Wildlife Reserve area of Bacalar Chico.
