Quiet day

Image
How nice to have the luxury of a quiet day. We are going to go to Pedro's for a bit tonight and then I might stop at the fair on the way home to try my luck at Rita de Premios la Super Sonia game. I would be happy to win a big size laundry bucket. Tomorrow there is a big beach party at Caliente we will likely go to that for a bit. Charlie missing Pedro who went to Mexico Going on a pizza run with Walter After dropping off pizza at Fidos, Walter had to go back to work. paul went home and I went to the fair. This was the busiest night yet. Saw Beto and Nita (our landlord and his wife) Jamilla won a plastic ice bucket with a lid on it, that will come in handy when I make shrimp ceviche. Last time I made some for Sharon's I did not have a good container to put it in.

Day 2 Dia De San Pedro

Today was the second day of the fair. After cooking up some snapper and stir fried veggies for dinner Paul and I headed off to check out the action. We had a decent sized bag of packs of gum left over from our afternoon school party and so we figured it would be a nice treat for the Holy Cross Kids. Once we got there and found one of our gang, it did not take long for the rest to find us and the gum was gone. My favorite fair game is called - Rita de Premios la Super Sonia (what a mouthful). For $2 you get to pick a rolled up Mexican bingo picture and if your picture matches one of the pictures they have assigned to the prizes, you win that item. They have some kids stuff but the bulk of the prizes are housewares (as you will notice in the picture below) I did not win anything this time around, so far I have won 2 nice baskets with handles on them, a set of 2 glasses, 3 plastic bowls, a smaller sized laundry bucket and a couple of kids posters, I gave one away and will find a home for

Today was the last day of school. I went up early to meet Cullen for class pictures and Paul came a bit later to help set up for the party. Once we got going the class pictures went pretty smoothly. All the Holy Cross kids love having their pictures taken, it was fun watching them scramble to get a seat. Cullen took one picture sitting nicely and then each class got a fun picture making rabbit ears making some noise and doing what ever they wanted. After the pictures were done the kids went back to their classrooms and got hot dogs and juice for lunch today. That left Cullen and I to grab a bite and start setting up. A couple was visiting the school and asking how they could get more involved, so after Francis was done showing them around, I took a break and did a tour of San Mateo with them. When I got back the balloons were up and everyone started to turn up for the party, by everyone I mean Paul the Musicians and the film crew. The kids were excited all day and when Zac started bang

Dia De San Pedro opening night

Dia Del San Pedro opening ceremonies were tonight. People were out and enjoying themselves. I had a good time, met up with a few of the kids from Holy Cross School. We walked around and talked for a bit. I can hear people on the ferris wheel from here as it is spinning so fast. I am going to go back over and get a taco. One hour till fireworks. The fair is totally on Belize Time, when I went back Groupo Huracan the Mariachi band was playing and they had not even done the opening ceremonies yet. I ran into Zac and he said that he was supposed to play with Barry and the Islanders hours a go and they still had not been up yet. After the fireworks he finally got to play. I stayed for their first song and then turned into a taco and came home. I set the alarm for 4 am to watch the Misa De Gallo (Fisherman's mass) procession through town. I will give it my best shot to get up, right now I am just no sure I will be able to scrape myself out of bed in two and a half hours. I did make an ic
