Shout out to everyone that entered Belize Please 2009 and made it a big success. I would also like to thank my judges Maya Ruthie and Beth as well as the local businesses who donated prizes... Pedro’s Pizza - Tropic Air - Lime Bar & Grill - San Pedro Fitness Club - CG Esthetic - Hungry Monkey - San Pedro Sun - Sweet Basil - Tropic Air - Artistic Skin Designs - Quick silver messenger - Humming Bird Cafe - Pirates Pizza and Ambergris Today Just as I thought the judges had a tough choice on their hands and it took a while to sort through all 50 contestants - we had a nachos salsa and Collette's fabulous homemade hummus for brain food. There were 3 lap tops set up so each judge could view at their own pace and pick out their favorites. Then they compared lists and hashed it out to see which ones they all agreed on. After judging was done we all had a hunger going and chowed down on crock pot ribs and veggies - Beth's yummy pasta salad and Ruthie's divine chocolate fudge bro...

Dogs and Cats of San Pedro

PSA from Foths Dogs and Cats of San Pedro Have their Cake and Eat it Too Friends of the Humane Society (FOTHS), launched their fundraising drive at the Savour San Pedro Food Festival last Saturday evening with a scrumptious stall that no one wanted to miss. On offer were some of the most delicious cakes and cookies by some of the best cooks in San Pedro. Adults, children, tourists and pet owners all flocked to the stand to enjoy the creative collection of tasty treats. Not to be outdone, the dogs had their own selection of handmade, gourmet dog biscuits to choose from. FOTHS is working hard to raise money to improve the facilities for SAGA Humane Society. As the island grows, so does the pressure on the Humane Society to provide a good service to the whole community. Even people who don’t particularly care for animals benefit greatly from the work that SAGA does to reduce the stray population of cats and dogs in San Pedro. This is why facilities need to be improved and expanded to...

Hanging Out In San Pedro

Image
Laundry for Rent Since my first visit to San Pedro, I have been mesmerized by the beautiful colors and movement of the laundry decorating every street corner. My collection of photographs kept building and building, and finally I was able to narrow them down to a 25 page book. "Hanging Out In San Pedro" is already in the works. If you are interested in buying a copy, it is in Tammy's "Pages" bookstore in San Pedro and can be ordered from there. The price, including delivery is $40.00 US/ $80.00 BZ by Cindy Reinert - Changes in Latitudes .

Bob Marley's Birthday Bash

I am in full out list mania right now - since yesterday lunch actually. I am going through all the Mexico bloggers blog rolls and compiling round 2 invitation to Blog Fiesta . If anyone would like to post the info on their blog please feel free. Erin Jo and Bronze were both laughing - here 10 days and they managed to make the front page of both papers for World Wetlands day. FYI from Foths... As you all know, Savour San Pedro Food Festival had to be rescheduled due to dreadful weather. So it is wonderful to be able to announce that the Friends of the Humane Society will be having their cake stand at the Food Festival this Saturday from 5:00pm. All monies raised will go towards helping SAGA to build new and better facilities for the abandoned, abused, neglected and sick animals they care for. Special thanks to Island Perk for selling cake and coffee for us, despite the rain and to Lime, who have been selling cakes all week. If you can donate a cake, cookies or other naughty delights...

World Wetlands Day - 2009

We are up early and getting ready to celebrate the importance of the mangroves in the first boat parade to create awareness. Soon we will be off to the Seaduced dock by the lagoon to meet the boat - I am sure there will be a quick stop at Rubys in there first. Boats will head down to Boca Ciega area. Stay tuned for pics... The Parade was great - about 14 boats turned up to support the cause. Erin made posters for Seaduced and we all pitched in on slogans. Elito talked about how mangrove roots create a seawall so baby fish can thrive until they are ready for open water. He also explained about all the wild life in that area and pointed out how the mangroves had lost their leaves as a result of hurricane Keith. We all agree it is so important to protect the wet lands to ensure a healthy future for all the nature that grows within them. For those of you who could not make the parade... There will be a poster contest in Central Park at 3:30 pm - please come show support to our young and ta...
